Power Profile: The Indelible Melting Cowboy!

Real Name: Buckaroo Davey (born Buck Davidson)
Age: 35
Occupation: Ranch owner, singing cowboy, performer
Origin: Famous as the "world's toughest singing cowboy" Buckaroo Davey was also the owner of a cattle ranch. He was working there when an errant government exploder device accidentally crashed onto the property. The radioactive device had the power to melt flesh, but, for some reason, Davey's legendary toughness prevented him from dissolving completely. Instead, it seemed he was regenerating flesh as fast as it would drip off, leaving him in a state of constant "meltocity." Highly radioactive, and billing himself as "The Indelible Melting Cowboy," Davey retained his easy going good-natured  demeanor after the transformation, but the government was less laid back about the situation.  They dispatched special agents to investigate the effects of the exploder device, and the mystery of Davey's incredible regenerating flesh. Now, Melt (as he is known for short) has a different type of cattle on his radioactive ranch; monstrous, hideous insects. They are invaluable for scientific research, and so, he must protect them from the partially melted Dark Bark and his villainous band of crooked cattle rustling mutants, all of whom were wrought from odd side effects caused by the exploder device.
Powers, abilities and weaponry: Melt has super strength, a regenerating healing factor, and the ability to form objects out of pure concentrated radioactivity. (he uses this to form traditional wild west weapons like lassos  and guns) He can also fire blasts of pure radiation.
Weaknesses: He looks like a big melty gross thing, and can't touch anyone for a prolonged period of time or else they too will melt.
Least favorite type of yogurt: The kind with the crumbly stuff you have to mix in
Favorite Golden Girl: Rose

  1. Oh I am in love with Melty. This is such a cool character! Can he talk, and if so, what does it sound like since he is constantly in meltocity mode? I just love this guy. I also love what he can do with creating traditional western weapons with radioactivity. So does he ever cross paths with Rock 'n Roll Porpoise Man? Or are they in each different stories? I am trying to catch up and know the universe you have created. It is very very cool!

  2. It is like the Marvel or DC Universe, everyone is in the same reality, they will all eventually interact, and their will be a Justice League/ Avengers type super group of all the good characters(and a Legion of Doom type bad guy group I can't wait to put together!) Haven't come up with the perfect super group name yet though. Also, I am planning on a "Moose Team-Up" title-like the classic Marvel team up- where it would be the Thing or Spider man teaming with another character in each issue. So yes, this is an actual comics universe-not just unrelated titles.
Melt can talk, he has the personality of the good-guy cowboys of old, like Roy Rogers and Gene Autry- which starkly contrasts with his grotesque form. And the more of my stuff you look at, the more you will see that I LOVE doing pastiches. All Moose comics are pastiches in one way or another. Many of them draw on archetypes from B horror and sci-fi. This one, of course, is my mix of "the Incredible Melting Man" -a 70's cheesy flick with an astronaut who melts from radioactivity he contracted in outer space, and "the Phantom Empire"- which was a movie serial from the 50's where the actual Gene Autry (playing himself) had to fight robots.
I have a thousand other little pop culture references to toys and comics and cartoons and movies that I sprinkle throughout all my characters. The fun game is to catch all the nods to the stuff I love!
